Riesigk liegt rund vier Kilometer südlich des Elbe-Ufers überwiegend im Biosphärenreservat Mittelelbe zwischen Dessau-Roßlau und Wittenberg. Nur drei Kilometer westlich von Riesigk entfernt befindet sich der Wörlitzer Park inmitten des Dessau-Wörlitzer Gartenreiches.
Die Landvermessung erfolgte mit Hilfe eines trigonometrischen Punktes auf dem Kirchturm. Dieser befand sich auf der Brüstung der Aussichtsplattform in rund 30 m Höhe und wurde bei den Restaurierungsarbeiten entfernt. Oberhalb der Fundamentbasis des Kirchturmes, zur Straße hin, befindet sich ein Turmbolzen.
