Bad Doberan ist eine Stadt im Landkreis Rostock in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Sie ist Sitz des Amtes Bad Doberan-Land, dem neun Gemeinden angehören, selbst aber nicht amtsangehörig. Die Stadt ist eines der 18 Mittelzentren des Landes.
Der Ort entwickelte sich um das gotische Münster, die 1232 geweihte Kirche des Klosters Doberan. Bad Doberan ist bekannt für seine gut erhaltene Altstadt mit vielen Baudenkmalen, die Galopprennbahn sowie für seinen Stadtteil Heiligendamm an der Ostsee. Das Seebad Heiligendamm wurde 1793 gegründet und ist das älteste Seebad auf dem europäischen Kontinent.
