Durch die Ortsteile Bietingen und Randegg fließt das Flüsschen Biber, welches unterhalb von Stein am Rhein in den Hochrhein mündet.
Die Gemeinde grenzt im Norden an Hilzingen, im Osten an Rielasingen-Worblingen und die Schweizer Gemeinden Buch und Ramsen im Kanton Schaffhausen, im Süden an Gailingen und im Westen an Dörflingen und Thayngen, beide im Kanton Schaffhausen.
