Rüdenhausen ist ein Markt im unterfränkischen Landkreis Kitzingen und ein Mitglied der Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Wiesentheid.
Die Herkunft des Ortsnamens Rüdenhausen lässt sich etymologisch nicht ganz klären. Der populäre Verweis auf alte Rüdenknechte ist eher unwahrscheinlich. Amtliche Register verweisen auf einen Ahnherrn Ruodo, doch dessen Existenz kann nicht bewiesen werden. Möglich wäre auch der Verweis auf ein Ried oder eine Rodung. Auch wird auf das alte Wort Rota verwiesen, das einen vorchristlichen Kultort auf einem Hügel bezeichnet. Der heutige Standort der evangelischen Kirche mit dem Eichbrunnen in der Nähe könnte damit gemeint sein.
