Das Stift Herford, unter anderem auch als Frauenstift, Damenstift, Reichsabtei, Fürstabtei oder Reichsprälatur Herford bezeichnet, war ein Frauenkonvent in Westfalen.
Die Abtei wurde Ende des 8. Jahrhunderts gegründet und 823 zur Reichsabtei erhoben. Im 12. Jahrhundert erlangte das Stift die Reichsunmittelbarkeit. Die Fürstäbtissinnen von Herford waren daher später auf den Kreistagen des Niederrheinisch-Westfälischen Reichskreises des Heiligen Römischen Reiches vertreten. Das Stift war auch Mitglied im Rheinischen Reichsprälatenkollegium und dadurch mittelbar auf den Reichstagen vertreten.
