Blaise Pascal wurde am 19. Juni 1623 in Clermont-Ferrand geboren. Er verlor seine Mutter, Antoinette Begon, im Alter von drei Jahren. Sein Vater, Étienne Pascal (1588–1651), der ebenfalls ein Interesse an Wissenschaft und Mathematik hatte, war ein örtlicher Richter und Mitglied der "Noblesse de Robe". Er ist berühmt für viele Dinge, eines davon ist Pascalsches Dreieck. Jede Zahl ist die Summe der beiden direkt darüber. Das Dreieck zeigt viele mathematische Eigenschaften neben der Darstellung binomischer Koeffizienten (sehen Sie sich das Video an).
