Die Kathedrale von Salisbury gilt als eines der herausragenden Beispiele der frühenglischen Architektur. Salisbury bleibt der höchste Kirchturm im Vereinigten Königreich. Bis heute sind die großen Stützsäulen an den Ecken des Turmes zu sehen, die sich unter dem Druck nach innen biegen. Die Ergänzung durch verstärkende Zugbalken über dem Kreuzungspunkt, entworfen von Christopher Wren im Jahr 1668, stoppte weitere Deformationen.
