Belluno ist eine Stadt in Norditalien mit 35.872 Einwohnern . Sie ist die Hauptstadt der gleichnamigen Provinz in Venetien und liegt am Fluss Piave.
Im 5. Jahrhundert v. Chr. siedelten auf dem Gebiet des heutigen Belluno die Volksstämme der Veneter und der Kelten, die der späteren Stadt ihren Namen gaben: „Belluno“ kommt vermutlich vom keltischen Ausdruck „belo-donum“, was so viel wie „lichte Anhöhe“ bedeutet. Etwa 300 Jahre später, im 2. Jahrhundert v. Chr., wurde Belluno römisch unter dem Namen „Bellunum“.
