Vierhouten ist ein Dorf in der Gemeinde Nunspeet, in der niederländischen Provinz Gelderland. Es liegt auf der Veluwe, zwischen Elspeet, Nunspeet und Vaassen. Vierhouten hat 700 Einwohner. Früher wurde Vierhouten Vierholten genannt. Der Name soll sich auf die vier Wälder beziehen, die das Dorf umgeben. Dies wären das Vierhouterbos, das Vreebos, das Elspeterbos und das Gortelsebos. Obwohl die Richtigkeit dieser Theorie angezweifelt wird, ist sie doch die gebräuchlichste. Eine andere Theorie besagt, dass der Name von der Nunspeter Familie Vierholt stammt. Wahrscheinlicher ist jedoch, dass diese Familie sich nach dem Ort benannt hat und nicht umgekehrt.
