C. Jochems und Jac Martens kamen auf die Idee, in der Nähe als Schutz gegen Kriegsgefahr eine Kapelle zu bauen. Es wurde eine Sammlung veranstaltet, die mehrere Hundert Gulden einbrachte. 1942 begann man mit dem Bau und am 15. September 1942 wurde die Kapelle von Pfarrer Verbunt der Heiligen Maria von den Sieben Schmerzen geweiht.
Diese Kapelle steht an der ehemaligen Straßenbahnlinie.
