Meerkerk ist ein Dorf und ehemalige Gemeinde in der Gemeinde Vijfheerenlanden, in der niederländischen Provinz Utrecht. Meerkerk liegt im äußersten Osten der Alblasserwaard. Der Name taucht erstmals in einer Urkunde des Kapitels von Sint Marie in Utrecht im Jahr 1266 und 1267 auf. Das Dorf wurde um 1000 als Siedlung gegründet. Wahrscheinlich ist es nach einem Stück Land namens Meer benannt, das in der Nähe einer Kirche lag. Die Kirche in Meerkerk wurde um 1400 erbaut. 1828 brannte sie nieder und wurde wieder neu aufgebaut. Um 1418 herrschten die Herren von Brederode über das Gebiet. Sie verwalteten das Land als souveräne Herrschaft. Zwischen den Brederodes und den van Arkels gab es manchmal Kämpfe, an denen auch Meerkerk beteiligt war.
