Der Snake River ist ein 1735 km langer Nebenfluss des Columbia Rivers im Nordwesten der Vereinigten Staaten.
Der Snake River hat seine Quelle an der kontinentalen Wasserscheide im Yellowstone-Nationalpark, fließt dann in Wyoming nach Süden durch den Grand-Teton-Nationalpark. Hinter dem Snake River Canyon biegt er nach Westen ab und erreicht die Snake River Plain, eine Ebene, die sich über rund 600 km bogenförmig durch das südliche Idaho zieht. Er fließt an den Städten Idaho Falls, Pocatello, Twin Falls und Boise vorbei und bildet mehrere Stauseen wie das American Falls Reservoir. Auf der Höhe von Twin Falls bildet der Snake River die 70 m hohen Shoshone Falls, auch Niagara of the west genannt. Dann strömt er weiter nach Norden und bildet einen Teil der Grenze zwischen Idaho und Oregon.
