Welcome to one of the gems of Brussels, the Royal Saint-Hubert Galleries. The Dutch architect Jean-Pierre Cluysenaar built the first covered shopping street in Europe in 1847. This example of Italian neo-Renaissance is also one of the few places around the Ilôt Sacré with a healthy mix of living, working, and entertainment: on the ground floor, there are not only chic shops but also cafés, the quality cinema Galeries, and a theater, while people still live on the upper floors. This stands in stark contrast to the other streets around the Grand Place, where hardly anyone lives and tourism prevails.
