Leerbeek is a sub-municipality of Gooik located in the Pajottenland, in the province of Flemish Brabant, Belgium. Leerbeek was an independent municipality until the municipal reorganization of 1977. In Leerbeek, a Stevenist uprising took place in 1794 under the leadership of Pastor Philippus Winnepenninckx against the French Napoleonists and their growing encroachments on the church. The pastors of the surrounding villages also followed his example. Exactly on the site of the house where former pastor Winnepenninckx died in 1840, his followers built a neo-Gothic chapel in his memory in 1918. Every Sunday at 9 AM, there is still a prayer service in this chapel.
