The farm site to the east of Forreist Castle consists of various distinct components. The farmhouse, with its Empire-style façade, is unique for agricultural heritage in Flanders. The barn is a well-preserved 18th-century structure. The stables form the northern side of a walled kitchen garden and house an orangery. The entrance to the walled kitchen garden is flanked by two pylons that refer to the lotus pillar on the Egyptian island of Philae in the southern Nile plain. On the farmyard and the adjacent house plot, a typical layout also includes a bakehouse, a small stable building, and a foundation of an earlier sluice on the moat wall.
