As soon as you have passed the busy outskirts of Ghent, you first cycle through the forested area of Meetjesland-Zuid (Lembeekse forests) and then through the vast polders of Meetjesland-Noord. The ride ends in Groede, a picturesque village that has no less than 3 churches, with the statue of Jacob Cats (father Cats) next to the Great church, according to some the most popular writer (especially poet) of the Golden Age, who was also a politician.
