Valley of the Bosbeek - red - 7.3 km

Once you cross the Bosbeek, you enter the wetter landscape of the Tösch. This reserve is managed by Limburgs Landschap. In this rougher landscape, konik horses and Scottish Highland cattle roam. In Wurfeld, the Bosbeek forms the natural boundary between two contrasting landscapes. In the Tösch, you are surprised by a piece of wilderness on a small scale in a marshy environment with wet woodlands, ponds, scrub, and thickets. On the north side of the winding Bosbeek lies the area of Langeren. Here, fields and pastures mainly shape the view. You will find a treasure trove of small landscape elements such as hedgerows and tree edges older than 100 years. In this brook, several watermills are still present, such as the Klaaskensmolen in Neeroeteren, the last working saw watermill in Flanders, and the Wurfeldermolen in Wurfeld.
