HK Ballasthoeve Pelt 23+24

The departure of this route is slightly different from route (1): Ballasthoeve Ballaststraat, 75, 3900 Pelt. (clubhouse of Jelle Van Endert) Passes through Wijchmaal, Peer, Pelt, Hoksent, Kleine Brogel. Very beautiful route. Biked by Irene and Yvan on 20/08/2021. One to frame. And certainly a must-do with the enthusiasts of HK. The Ballasthoeve, (see website www.ballasthoeve.be) is a small cafeteria with a small campsite and a nice terrace at the back, located in a very quiet area. Quiet paths with little car traffic. The Ballasthoeve is about 30 km from cycling and the center of Peer is about 40 km away. This ride was done with 17 enthusiasts on 26/08/21. Beautiful course, mostly flat and when there is no wind, great cycling can be done. This route was cycled with 11 people on 29/05/2023 instead of the calendar route Hautain St Simeon. On 20/05/24 (2nd Whit Monday) this route was cycled with 9 people. Yves and I fell, scrapes, but still finished the ride. The Ballasthoeve is closed on Mondays, but a bit further along the route is the "Wedelse Molen" (after 35 km) where we took a break. Kleine Brogel and Peer are on the way back. This ride was done with 8 people (not official) out of season on 16/10/24. Beautiful course. But the ride can actually be slightly shortened by taking the bike path immediately at Eikenenpad in Zonhoven.
