Did you know that the Tuscan and mathematician Leonardo Bonacci, better known as Fibonacci was working here in Bugia in the 13the century. It was here that he learned about Arabic numerals (Indian in origin). Fibonacci popularized the Hindu–Arabic numeral system in the Western World. He is also known for the Fibonacci sequence, characterized by the fact that every number after the first two is the sum of the two preceding ones. Fibonacci numbers appear in a wide variety of plants and in many living organisms.
