Charles Darwin and his family spent their holiday on the Isle of Wight in 1868. Julia Margaret Cameron, a British photographer, living on the Isle of Wight, took the famous portrait showing the bushy beard Darwin had grown by 1866.
Julia Margaret Cameron her favourite subject to photograph was Julia Jackson, her niece, and mother of the author Virginia Woolf.
