Markelo station was located in the Overijssel hamlet of Stokkum on the Zutphen - Glanerbrug railway line between Lochem Station and Goor Station.The station building is of the standard type SS 5th class and was opened on November 1, 1865.The station is located halfway between Diepenheim and Markelo, the distance to both villages in about four kilometers. The station was called Diepenheim until 1910 but the name was changed to Markelo as Diepenheim was then given a station on the Neede - Hellendoorn railway line.Markelo station was closed on 15 May 1953.
