Bantam is an estate on the provincial road Weesp - Bussum. It is located on the territory of Hilversum.Bantam originated in the 18th century but was not called that at the time. The then owner of Schaep en Burgh was given permission to mine part of the Naarderveld. The Naarderveld is the extension of the 's-Gravelandse country estates to the east. Pieces of that Naarderveld often passed into other hands through inheritance or sale. Pieces that first belonged to Swaenenburgh and Schaep en Burgh were added. As a result, the current estate is also partly in the municipality of Hilversum and partly in the municipality of Wijdemeren.
