Groede remembers Jacob Cats (and his brother Cornelis) as the man who used his fortune to build dikes and who had no less than twelve polders cultivated. Groede has dry feet thanks to Cats, and for that, he will be thanked forever.
This route takes you along the coast of Groede and the polders of Jacob Cats. If you want to learn more about the picturesque village of Groede, extend the walk with an additional loop of 10 kilometers or take the separate route "Village Walk Groede: Dry Feet Thanks to Jacob Cats".
