From the historic lock at Lake Vechte, the tour leads you along the Nordhorn-Almelo Canal to the Frensdorfer Haar lock - the border to the Netherlands. Cycle on to the lively Denekamp and treat yourself to an ice cream at "De Ijskuip". From here, you can expect Singraven Castle and Watermill, the artist village of Ootmarsum, the open-air museum "Los Hoes", the Springendal nature reserve, and then the "Herrlichkeit" Lage on the German side. For the next stop, the Grenzerlebnisstation "Klettergarten" or the Frenswegen Monastery with a café are recommended. On the way back along the Vechte, you cycle past artway stations, the city park, and the historic oil mill weir.
