Veldegem es una aldea en la provincia belga de Flandes Occidental. La aldea es una subcomuna de Zedelgem desde 1977. Veldegem es una aldea relativamente joven, que solo se desarrolló a partir del siglo XIX. Ahora viven más de 5500 personas. Veldegem surgió siglos más tarde que las aldeas circundantes como 'el campo de Zedelgem'. De hecho, el territorio solía ser una zona boscosa y los mapas antiguos mencionan dunas de tierra, pantanos y estanques. Se sospecha que esta tierra infértil fue llamada por ello "'t Veld". En los alrededores de la futura estación ya ha habido asentamientos durante siglos: la mención más antigua del Lepemolen, también llamado Veldmolen o Rommelsmolen, data de 1645. Fue volado en 1918. A lo largo de la Torhoutsesteenweg, cerca de la frontera con Torhout, también había el Kronemolen.
