El fuerte fue construido en 1907-1908 y ya estaba bajo intenso fuego alemán en 1914. El 3 de octubre de 1914, los alemanes tomaron el fuerte. En 1939-1940 se instaló una protección antitanque y el fuerte se convirtió en parte de la nueva línea Koningshooikt-Waver (línea KW).
En el fuerte han encontrado su hogar muchos murciélagos. Las especies más comunes son el murciélago de herradura, el murciélago de río, el murciélago acuático, el murciélago rastrero, el murciélago de Brandt y el murciélago de barba. El dominio es una Zona de Especial Protección Europea.
