Iserlohn n-lô „Eisenwald“) es una gran ciudad perteneciente a un distrito así como una ciudad media en el distrito de Märkischer Kreis en Renania del Norte-Westfalia y con alrededor de 93,000 habitantes, es la ciudad más grande del Märkischer Kreis y del Sauerland.
Las primeras huellas de asentamientos en el área de la ciudad tienen más de 1000 años, la fundación de la ciudad se remonta hace aproximadamente 770 años. En los siglos XVIII y XIX, Iserlohn experimentó un auge económico gracias a la industria metalúrgica y durante décadas fue la segunda ciudad más grande de Westfalia. Hoy en día, la economía, además del procesamiento de metales, está marcada principalmente por la producción y los servicios químicos y médicos.
