Situado en la orilla izquierda, justo más allá de Sankt Goar, en Renania-Palatinado, este es uno de los castillos más grandes que dominan el Rin.
Ahora, una parte del castillo se ha transformado en un lujoso hotel, algunas habitaciones se han habilitado como museo, mientras que la mayor parte es una ruina protegida que se puede visitar. Durante el verano, hay conciertos y representaciones teatrales con regularidad.
