Quienes decidan recorrer el ramal de Caia deberán seguir las indicaciones de la vía que discurre por la margen derecha del río Guadiana: sobre un primer tramo asfaltado y acerado, acondicionado para el paseo junto al río en este margen que termina en un cruce con un camino de zahorra marcado por la presencia de eucaliptos (Eucalyptus ssp.). Dicho camino, que se debe tomar a la izquierda, acerca al caminante en 50 m al azud del río Guadiana y, continuando unos 500 m más, alcanza una bifurcación en la que habrá de tomarse el camino de la izquierda junto al río. A partir de este punto merece la pena el paseo hasta el final, ya que se encuentra inmerso en el paisaje del río, flora y fauna del Lugar de Importancia Comunitaria (LIC) “Río Guadiana Internacional”, que comienza en el azud de Badajoz.
