Esta es la octava etapa de la Via Tolonensis, en Francia también conocida como GR653, una de las cuatro rutas principales desde Francia a Santiago de Compostela. La ruta va desde Arles a través de Montpellier, Castres y Toulouse hasta el Col de Somport, donde se conecta con los caminos españoles.
La etapa de Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert a Saint-Jean-de-la-Blaquière tiene aproximadamente 22 km de longitud y está señalizada con los conocidos signos rojo y blanco.
