En el camino de Heerlen a Ubachsberg, el Putberg es la primera pendiente que los ciclistas de la Ruta Roja y la Ruta Rosa se encuentran en 2026. La pendiente tiene poco más de dos kilómetros de longitud. La inclinación máxima es del 6,1%, y la media del 3,4%. Recientemente, se ha equipado la pendiente con un amplio carril bici a la derecha, del cual tanto los escaladores como los que descienden hacen uso. A mitad de camino se encuentra un viejo horno de cal, un monumento industrial construido con piedra de Kunder, que actualmente se está restaurando.
