Stanzach est situé à l'embouchure de la vallée de Namloser dans la vallée de Lech. Le village a été mentionné officiellement pour la première fois en 1294. En plus du village principal, le village de montagne de Fallerschein fait également partie de la commune. De plus, de nombreuses maisons sont dispersées sur une terrasse le long du Lech. Stanzach compte environ 120 foyers. La montagne de la commune est le Nerenkopf, qui se trouve dans la partie sud de Stanzach.
