A Villers-La-Ville se trouve l’Abbaye Notre-Dame de Villers. Ce sont les ruines de ce qui était autrefois une abbaye cistercienne. Au fond de la vallée de la Thyle, qui a creusé un paysage presque ardennais, il y a les vestiges à admirer.
L’abbaye a été fondée en 1146 par le Saint Bernard canonisé plus tard et est devenue au fil des ans l’une des abbayes les plus uniques de toute l’Europe occidentale. La ruine a une superficie de plus de 15 ha et la brasserie du 13ème siècle est l’un des bâtiments monastiques les plus impressionnants de Belgique.
