Meersburg est une ville millénaire; avec Lindau, elle passe pour le plus bel endroit des rives du lac. On y trouve un énorme château médiéval - lAltes Schloss - et un palais baroque - le Neues Schloss - construit par les évêques de Constance après que la population se fut convertie au protestantisme. La pente abrupte entre lOberstadt (la ville haute, avec le château fort, le nouveau château et la belle place du marché) et lUnterstadt (la ville basse, avec la promenade au long de leau) se prête bien à la culture de la vigne.
