Le Deutsche Eck est le nom d'un promontoire à Coblence, où la Moselle rejoint le Rhin. En 1897, neuf ans après la mort de l'empereur allemand Guillaume Ier, celui-ci a été honoré avec un monument signé de Bruno Schmitz surmonté d'une statue équestre géante représentant le défunt empereur. Sur le socle a été gravée une citation du poète Max von Schenkendorf, de Coblence : Nimmer wird das Reich zerstöret,/ Wenn ihr einig seid und treu! .
