Elle est située dans la zone non bascophone de la province, dans la mérindade de Tudela et à 70 km de sa capitale, Pampelune. Le castillan est la seule langue officielle. Jusqu'au milieu du XIXe siècle, il appartenait à l'abbaye de La Oliva.
Murillo el Fruto, Gallipienzo et Cáseda au nord, Sos del Rey Católico et Sádaba à l'est, les Bardenas Reales et Mélida au sud, Santacara à l'ouest.
