Dans l’enceinte de l’abbaye, le maréchal Ferdinand Foch a cherché la paix et la réflexion pendant la Première Guerre mondiale. L’abbaye cistercienne du Katsberg (Abbaye du Mont des Cats) y a été établie par des moines belges au 17ème siècle, mais détruite pendant la Révolution française. En 1826, le monastère a été reconstruit. Les trappistes de l’abbaye fabriquent un fromage, l’Abbaye du Mont des Cats, qui est comparable au Port Salut.
