Bellagio est connu comme le point de départ de l'ascension vers la Madonna del Ghisallo, un classique du Giro de Lombardia. Mais Bellagio est aussi célèbre pour son emplacement fabuleux à l'intersection des trois bras du lac de Côme en forme de Y, également connu sous le nom de Lario. Il est situé à l'extrémité de la péninsule séparant les deux bras sud du lac, avec les Alpes visibles de l'autre côté du lac, au nord.
