Le château de Wangen-Bellermont se trouve dans la vallée de Sarntal en Alto Adige, sur le territoire de la commune de Ritten. Il a été construit dans les années suivant 1209 et a été achevé au plus tard en 1237. Les bâtisseurs étaient les nobles de Wangen, des hommes de confiance des évêques de Trente. Cependant, la plus grande partie de l'année, la famille ne vivait pas dans le château de Wangen-Bellermont, qui porte son nom, mais plutôt dans le petit château de Ried, situé plus près de Bolzano, ou dans le proche Runkelstein.
