L'attuale faro di Blankenberge, soprannominato il molo Comte Jean , fu costruito tra il 1950 e il 1954 nella città portuale belga.
Fino al 2009 l'edificio sotto la torre ospitava un museo marittimo .
Un faro è menzionato a Blankenberge già nel 1337 . Il faro precedente fu costruito tra il 1870 e il 1872 e fatto saltare in aria dalle forze di occupazione tedesche nel 1944. Prima di allora c'era un faro dal 1817 al 1873 a Fort Napoleon, che da allora è stato demolito.
