Le Alpi Pennine sono una parte della catena montuosa delle Alpi. Secondo la Partizione delle Alpi fanno parte delle Alpi Centrali, mentre secondo la SOIUSA appartengono alle Alpi Nord-Occidentali.
Talvolta si distingue tra Alpi del Vallese ed Alpi Pennine suddividendo la parte svizzera ed italiana di questo gruppo montuoso. Secondo la classificazione della SOIUSA, si intendono come sinonimi Alpi Pennine ed Alpi del Vallese.
