Il comune si trova direttamente al confine nord-orientale della città di Fulda, nelle propaggini occidentali della Rhön. Attraverso il territorio comunale scorre la Haune.
Petersberg confina a nord con la città di Hünfeld, a est con il comune di Hofbieber, a sud-est con il comune di Dipperz, a sud con il comune di Künzell e a ovest con la città di Fulda.
