Reken è un comune nella parte occidentale del Münsterland, nel nord-ovest della Renania Settentrionale-Vestfalia, e appartiene al distretto di Borken nel Regierungsbezirk Münster. Reken è una località di villeggiatura riconosciuta dallo stato. A ciò contribuiscono, oltre alla posizione geografica, anche numerose possibilità ricreative.
Reken si trova nel Westmünsterland nel parco naturale Hohe Mark, tra le catene montuose delle colline di Reken a nord, le montagne a nord-ovest e Hohe Mark a est, quest'ultima particolarmente ricca di boschi. All'estremità sud-occidentale della frazione di Groß Reken scorre il Midlicher Mühlenbach, che nel territorio di Reken è ancora chiamato Kusebach, e poi fluisce verso sud – passando per la frazione Bahnhof Reken e attraverso Klein Reken – nel comune.
