Barum è un comune nella Lüneburger Heide nel distretto di Lüneburg, Bassa Sassonia. Il comune di Barum è membro della Samtgemeinde Bardowick.
Barum, un luogo in mezzo alla Lüneburger Elbmarsch, si trova in una posizione centrale rispetto alle città di Lüneburg, Winsen, Lauenburg e Geesthacht, nonché ad Amburgo. Fino all'Elba ci sono circa sei chilometri. Il villaggio è attraversato dal fiume Neetze, che si allarga a forma di lago a nord del luogo e per questo motivo è chiamato Barumer See. Dal Neetze si dirama il canale Neetzekanal, costruito alla fine del 19° secolo.
