Il paese vinicolo di Gottenheim si trova nella Pianura del Alto Reno, all'estremità settentrionale del Tuniberg, tra Friburgo in Brisgovia e il Kaiserstuhl.
Nel frattempo, è stata incorporata nel comune la frazione Siedlung. Si tratta di un piccolo agglomerato di case unifamiliari, costruite alla fine degli anni '30. Si è fusa, a causa dell'espansione di Gottenheim nel periodo post-bellico, con il nucleo originario, contribuendo in particolare l'area edificabile di Au.
