Witzenhausen è una città di piccole dimensioni nel distretto di Werra-Meißner in Assia settentrionale. Il luogo ottenne i diritti di città nel 1225 e fu capoluogo di circondario fino al 1974.
La città è conosciuta a livello regionale come un'importante zona di coltivazione per le ciliegie. L'area è considerata la più grande zona di coltivazione di ciliegie chiusa in Europa. La ciliegia ha una tradizione a Witzenhausen e così ogni anno a luglio si celebra la Kesperkirmes, durante la quale viene eletta una regina delle ciliegie.
