Il Museo Comunale di Eisenhüttenstadt è stato fondato nel 1980 e oggi comprende tre sedi che presentano la storia della città di Eisenhüttenstadt, una galleria d'arte con opere della DDR e un museo di pompieri e tecnologia.
L'apertura del Museo Comunale di Eisenhüttenstadt si è svolta il 6 dicembre 1980. Il museo è situato in un edificio in stile liberty con motivi marittimi in Löwenstraße 4 nel quartiere di Fürstenberg. L'edificio a due piani è stato costruito nel 1906 come abitazione per volere del direttore della società di navigazione, Carl Reiche, ed è stato ricostruito nel 1977. È tutelato come monumento storico.
