Il villaggio stradale di Poritz, nell'Altmärk, si trova a tre chilometri a ovest di Bismark, lungo il Flohgraben, che a ovest sfocia nel torrente Milde, che pochi chilometri a nord-est si unisce con la Untere Milde e diventa la Biese.
La prima menzione documentata risale all'anno 1341 come to pordiz, quando Heinrich e Fritz von Buzt cedettero ai contadini di Büste boschi e pascoli. Nel 1358 il villaggio è menzionato come in villa porditze, quando il cavaliere Ditrich von Wultitz vendette delle entrate dal villaggio a cittadini di Stendal. Nel libro fondiario del Marchesato di Brandeburgo del 1375, il luogo è elencato come Portz.
