Kerkrade è una città con una lunga storia che si può vedere nell'abbazia medievale di Rolduc. Dietro questo monumentale edificio si trova una bellissima foresta in pendenza con incantevoli laghetti, dove nuotano anatre e le anemoni colorano il bosco. Continuate a camminare attraverso la bellissima area del Wormdal, dove lungo il fiume di confine meandrante abitano i martin pescatori e i castori. Date un'occhiata anche al mulino Baalsbruggermolen, risalente a novecento anni fa, l'unico mulino abbaziale dei Paesi Bassi.
