Il sentiero escursionistico di qualità "Werra-Burgen-Steig Hessen" X5 H attraversa un paesaggio sorprendentemente vario con il suo carattere unico di castelli. Incantevoli cittadine a graticcio come Hann. Münden, Witzenhausen, Bad Sooden-Allendorf ed Eschwege aspettano escursionisti affamati e offrono molte opportunità di riposo.

In ogni tappa ci sono salite moderate fino a ripide, ma sempre ricompensate da una vista impareggiabile. Una delle tappe più belle è sicuramente l’area intorno alla "Hörne" presso il castello di Rothestein a Bad Sooden-Allendorf.

Dopo quasi 130 chilometri si raggiunge il Tannenburg come meta finale. Fino a questo punto si sono scalati eccezionali 3.700 metri di dislivello, inclusi tutti gli ascensori.
